I am getting these pictures of what were called the

';Arco Ark'; animals....

The toy was an actual playset of Noah's Ark

and the animals would all come seperate --

each time you would ';fill up';

at the gas station you could get a premium

of a set of two animals for the ark...

There were numerous sets of two

{the detail was very realistic and

the plastic was fairly translucent}

I'm not sure when these were made, but I found them in a discount store in the early 90s...they were called Crystal Heart, I believe. Try looking those up.

  • Finishing seams on clear plastic model parts?

I'm building a model kit which has various laboratory bottles, vials and beakers made of clear plastic. Most of these consist of two halves leaving a seam down the side when glued together. While I know how to putty seams on regular plastic parts, I've never had to fuss with seams on clear plastic. Can anyone recommend tips on how to finish seams on clear parts, or at least make them less noticeable? Thanks!Finishing seams on clear plastic model parts?
Rather than use putty, just glue solidly. THEN sand with VERY fine sanding sticks to clean the seam and blend. You can get as fine as using toothpaste and a soft cloth.

THEN take your parts and DIP them into Future Floor Polish and hang in a dust free area to dry. ';Future'; is a terrific acrylic that gives a TERRIFIC shine to polystyrene plastic clear parts.

I've been repairing model aircraft windshields this way for decades.

GOOD LUCKFinishing seams on clear plastic model parts?
The only way to really do it is to use as little glue as possible. You cant get rid of the seams unless you have a kiln and you make the parts custom. I ahve been looking for a way too but thats all I got good luck

Why does water in a clear plastic bag keep flies away.?

While attending a cook-out at a friends house, i notice that he had water in clear bags hanging around, he said they keep the flies away.Sure enough no flies !Why does water in a clear plastic bag keep flies away.?
Yes I know why..lol i have asked this at the county extension agency...Flies have hundreds of eyes..and the reflectiveness off of the plastic and water, almost like a prismatic effect, mirrors thierself and confuses them..they tend to evade the situationWhy does water in a clear plastic bag keep flies away.?
    Hydrophobic flies?

Now if you tell us that after removing the bags of water, a bunch of flies showed up, I might start to wonder if you're onto something. And if you can repeat that in about a dozen different locations, I'd rush off and patent that one!
I had never heard of that but I'm going to try it.
Ok, now I assume they were open?? Wonder if it works on mosquitos
if what you say is true ? , your friend should patent this at once .

Hurry B/4 someone else does .
might be the reflections of light throughout the water that keeps them away, flies are usually attracted to darker areas and the water would be magnifying light rays from all over.

    just a guess
Gee Whiz! I am 48 years old, and I have seen the BBQ places use this at the back door to the kitchens ever since I was a kid!

Before plastic bags became popular they used 1 gallon glass pickle jars.

Must just be a Southern Thang!

What is the best way to clean the soap scum off a clear plastic shower liner?

are you sure its ';soap scum'; thats stuck to it?What is the best way to clean the soap scum off a clear plastic shower liner?
Fill the tub up with lukewarm water and use some laundry detergent (powdered works best, in my experience). I usually climb in the tub and use my feet (sorta like stomping grapes for wine haha!), although if you prefer you can use a sponge and wipe it down. Rinse really well with cold water and it should be clean and spot free! What is the best way to clean the soap scum off a clear plastic shower liner?
with Windex and a sponge. Soak it first with the spray and let it set a few minutes then wipe it off. But hey, why mess with that? Put the thing in your washer and wash at the permaprest setting and pull it out before the spin cycle and hang it up while it's still warm...and tug at it from the botton so any pleats will fall in nicely. In the washer you can use your usual liquid clothes washing soap.
    I just go to a $1 store %26amp; get a new one.

How do you polish scratched clear plastic?

the clear plastic cover of my headlights, mercedes benz 2001 E220 is blurred with tiny scratches. can the blurring be removedHow do you polish scratched clear plastic?
These may not be scratches but are environmental stress cracks caused by exposure to UV radiation. If this is the case then there is nothing much you can do.

If it is real scratches, you can try those CD disk repair kits (not cleaning kits) which are silicone based to repair light scratches.usually sold at PC fairs or DVD shops.

let me know if it works:)How do you polish scratched clear plastic?
The traditional method is to use metal polish Brasso UK or you can use T-Cut, it is used to clean aircraft windows, so must be OK for all other plastics,

When I was a child everybody cleaned their bakelite with Brasso.
yes with a very fine grit polish and a polisher try a paint store that sells automotive products also try a Hobey store that sells jewelry
The auto parts stores have a polishing compound for that now.

How do you get the glare off of clear plastic? What can you spray on it to stop a light reflection?

A pro photo shop will have mat or dulling spray that will dull the reflection, but it is an expensive solution if you don't need to use it often and it is hard to remove.

An alternative, available in most pharmacies like Wallgreens, etc., is cheap hair spray. I emphasize CHEAP. That's not because of the money, but because cheap hair spray dulls down what it is sprayed on and that is what you want.

The technique is simple. From about 18 inches away, you spray a light even coat of the hair spray and let it dry. Keep doing this, letting the hair spray dry completely between each light coat, until you have the reflection knocked down to where you want it. What you are doing with this is making what is known as a specular (or very sharp and defined reflection) into a broader reflection called diffuse.

If you want to completely eliminate the reflection, or keep its sharply defined character, but just not have as much of it, you can use a polarizing filter on the lens and adjust it until you get what you want. This is the most expensive solution, but it can take care of reflections off everything but metal.

Finally, you can adjust the angle you are shooting from to eliminate the reflection.

VanceHow do you get the glare off of clear plastic? What can you spray on it to stop a light reflection?
Seamless had it pretty much covered, I just wanted to add, using a polarizer will eliminate reflection against the angle to the sun or studio light will set the environment too your advantage.

I wasn't really clear on whether you were shooting, or framing.

Depending on your finances, non reflective glass is good, but no good for shooting. How do you get the glare off of clear plastic? What can you spray on it to stop a light reflection?
Another way if you can since you did not mention what this was that you are shooting is to shoot at a 45 degree angle (flash on camera) to your subject and you will remove the glare.

Seamless_1 also gave you a good and inexpensive solution that will work.

when you say its yellow it reminds me of one board in particular, it was called THE STINGER
i know powell made boards like that but i don't know if that was late 70's or early 80's. but i seen alot of them boards on Ebay!
I don't remember the name, but it was red with clear red wheels,I called it the bullet for its shape. They were just called skateboards or street surfers.I still love it 20 years later.
