Resin jewelry. Does anyone know of a clear plastic that you can embed a stone or other object in. It should?

be very clear so the object will be visible. It should be hard and not easily damaged. Ideally it should not be easily flammable. I would like for it to be able to survive direct flame for a short period, a few seconds. It could be discolored and misshapen by the experience as long as it continues to exist. There should be some chemical solvent that will melt it even though it is not vulnerable to heat. Any suggestions?Resin jewelry. Doesn't sound like PMC gold will fit all the wish list. http://www.dickblick.com/zz305/25/

Would the polymers work? I think I saw a clear type of plastic in one of the old dick blick catalogs somewhere.
