The straw wreath form I purchased is encased in clear plastic. Do I remove this before creating a wreath?

I want to hot glue eucalyptus and other trim to it. What I have read is to use steel picks attached to the trim and stick it into the wreath. For another look, I thought I would wrap a ribbon around the base and attach silk flowers and trim. The straw wreath form I purchased is encased in clear plastic. Years ago, the straw wreaths came unwrapped and I always wrapped them with kitchen wrap for two reasons. One was, it is very messy and the other, was I was allergic to the straw and kept sneezing.

Either way is fine. The straw wreath form I purchased is encased in clear plastic. Do I remove this before creating a wreath?
I have seen the wreaths decorated, leaving the plastic on and with the plastic removed.

If you are going to completely cover it with picks, the plastic could remain on the wreath.

If you remove the plastic, be sure it is well wrapped with wire or nylon (fishing line). Especially if it will be exposed to various weather conditions.

Best wishes.
