How do I get 10 years of soap scum off a stiff, clear plastic shower curtain?
I think after 10 years you can get a new shower curtain! I wash mine every few months with some towels on gentle cycle in my washer. Mine isn't stiff though. LOL
I agree with the other answers: buy a new one.
By the time you've labored to get the soap scum off, you'll have spent as much money on detergents (not to mention labor).
Why bother when you can buy shower curtains for a dollar?
Why go through all that work? It will cost you more in cleaning products than to buy a new shower curtain.
Buy a new one, they're not that expensive.
They're really cheap, buy a new one. If you really want to clean it...mr. clean magic eraser works on almost everything!
It's not worth the time it would take to clean it--go get a new one!
You don't. Toss it and get a new one - see if it is possible to recycle the old one.
Throw it in the washing machine, hot water, laundry detergent, and a little bleach. Mine comes out great every time. I usually throw it in the dryer on low heat for a few minutes so that it will hang smoothly without wrinkles from the washer.
a new one is a good idea, but if you love it.... Tilex should work, spray well, let sit for 30 min +, then wash in the washer with a towel you hate, a thick rough one if possible, should get most of the scum off, you might need to do it a couple of times.
It will probably never come clean. Plastic shower curtains can be had anywhere for next to nothing. Go splurge and buy yourself a new one. You deserve it.
